LVXCÆLIS – THE WATCHERS LP (Lamech Records)

LvxCælis return with their second full-length and, even though I’m not a huge fan of the almost operatic clean vocals deployed for the most part, I have to admit it is pretty effective and fits the music nicely.

This is grandiose, atmospheric Black Metal with big balls, ideal for those of you who like Dødsengel and Hetroertzen (which I do, despite myself).

Melodramatic and over the top it may well be, but ‘The Watchers’ is nonetheless an enjoyable body of work and I’ve listened to this record a lot since bagging it. Comes in a lovely gatefold jacket, with lyrics included. Lovely drum sound, too.
